Brother David Edward Downey, age 87 of Joliet, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at the Greg & Noreen Wells Hospice Care Center, Hazard, Kentucky. He was born December 6, 1930 in Joliet, Illinois to the late Glenn Perry & Gladys Marie Fildes Downey
He was the husband of Margaret Mae Richardson Downey & the late Ruth E. Frey Dowey. He was a Minister; Missionary in Chicago area, member of First Christian Church, Joliet, Illinois. Along with his wife he is survived by his Son: Phillip (Jacque) Downey of Minooka, Illinois; Daughters: Joyce (Gary) Mitchell of Eastern, Kentucky, Mary (Bob) Lirot of Joliet, Illinois & Darlene (Steve) Christenson of Virginia Beach, Virginia; Son-in-law: Donny Walton of Joliet, Illinois; Daughter-in-law: Saundra Downey of Manhattan, Illinois; Brothers: Glenn (Dorothy) Downey of Joliet, Illinois; 13 Grandchildren, 20 Great Grandchildren & 2 Great Great Grandchildren. Along with his parents and first wife he was preceded in death by his Son: David Stephen Downey; Daughter: Christine Walton; Brother: Gerald Downey; one grandson: Jon Christenson. He will be missed by all that knew and loved him.

Time and Place of Services: Friday, May 4, 2018 at 7pm at Nelson Frazier Funeral Home, Martin, Kentucky

Visitation: Friday, May 4, 2018 at 5pm at the funeral home

Officiating: Brother Gary Mitchell

Burial: Woodlawn Memorial Park, Juliet, Illinois
