Obituary for Pearlie Lee Baisden

Pearlie Lee Baisden of Prestonsburg passed away from this life on Sunday March 3rd, 2019. She was eighty-three. Pearlie was born on July 29, 1935 in Floyd County, to the late Leroy Baisden and Pearlie Calhoun Baisden. Pearlie loved taking care of her house, loved musicals like Camelot, Brigadoon and The Sound of Music. Many will remember her when she worked in downtown Prestonsburg at Cato’s and at Richmond’s Department Store. She loved to meet Ruby and Ruth, her sisters, for lunch at the drug store and loved Sunday visits to Walmart. An Alzheimer’s patient, she had for many years been a resident of Prestonsburg Health Care. There she was known for stories about her childhood and for her love of chocolate.
Pearlie is survived by her daughter, Karen Salyer McElmurray and Karen’s husband, John Johns, of Catonsville, Maryland; her sister-in-law, Odelia Baisden; her brother-in-law, Dave Campbell; and her nieces and nephews, among them Shawna, Lori, Sandy, Candy, Ashley, Hannah, and Stephen. She had one grandchild named Andrew.
Along with her parents Pearlie is preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Campbell and Ruby Lafferty, and her brother, Roy Baisden. She will be remembered for her humor, her dedication to the care of her parents, and her love of her daughter.

A Graveside services will be held on Monday July 29, 2019 at 2pm at Gethsemane Gardens in Prestonsburg with Pastor Nathan Lafferty officiating. All family and friends our welcomed and appreciated.
