Obituary for Robert "Bobcat" Jackson

obert Earl Jackson “Bobcat” of Georgetown, formerly of Wheelwright, was born on December 26, 1945 in Dunham, KY to the late George and Rosabelle Jackson. He departed his life March 9th, 2018. at DeBakey VA Hospital in Houston, Texas. He was raised by the late John and Annabelle Scott. He was the youngest of nine children.

Bobcat graduated from Wheelwright High School. After high school, he enlisted in the Navy for 4 years and was a Vietnam Veteran. He attended Morehead State University. After college, he was employed by Bell South where he retired. He was an assistant coach for Wheelwright High and South Floyd High School for a total of 42 years. He was a KY Colonel, member of the Wheelwright Planning Committee, and member of the Judicial Nominating Commission. He was a member of Faithway at Zion Hill. He was an avid fisherman and gardener. He was an outstanding mentor and father figure to the young men he coached.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Stephanie Kephart Jackson, his children Timika Jackson of Georgetown, Rodney Jackson and his wife Wendy of Lexington, and Chantra Jackson of Georgetown. He was also a very proud grandfather to T’Kiah, Breonna, Gerel, Raj and Eli Jackson.

He is also survived by five sisters Rosabelle Jackson, Dolly White and her husband James, Bettie Gayles, Frankie Pilson and Magdalene Kelly.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by 3 brothers James, Handy and George Jackson and two sisters Catherine Epps and Alberta Rhea. His memory will live through a host of nieces, nephews, family members and close friends.

Serving as active Pallbearers are Bryan Rhea, Chuck Hutton, Tony Hutton, Luke Rhea, Muntu Oden, Steven Jackson & Handy Jackson Jr

Honorary Pallbearers are Donny Daniels, Al Lewis, Ron Gathright, Willie Jackson, James Butler & John Butler

Time and Place of Services: Friday March 16, 2018 at 10am at Faithway Missionary Baptist Church at Zion Hill in Midway, Kentucky

Visitation: Thursday March 15, 2018 after 5pm at Nelson Frazier Funeral Home in Martin, Kentucky and from 9am to 10am at Faithway Missionary Baptist Church at Zion Hill in Midway, Kentucky

Officiating: Pastor Chester A. Palmer

Burial: Friday March 16, 2018 at 12:30pm at Camp Nelson National Cemetery in Nicholasville, Kentucky
